Cannot match female's pronunciation

When asked to speak some Spanish aloud, I am almost always marked "correct" for things spoken by the male speaker, and I am almost never marked "correct" for things spoken by the female speaker. (I am male and have a deep voice.) I have to assume that my pronunciation is compared to the speaker.

Do other people have this same gender problem?

BTW, it doesn't matter whether or not I try to copy the female speaker's pronunciation of "Yo" as "Jo."

Are you actually trying to match the female voice? Like putting on a high pitch voice?

I haven’t noticed anything related to male or female speakers.

I find speed seems to be more of a factor. Sometime I will get it wrong so I say it either faster or slower and pronounce each word

I cannot speak in a higher pitched voice. I can almost manage a falsetto. Speaking slower sometimes helps. I wish there were a way to try more than once.

I have noticed various problems in the speaking parts of duolingo. Now I haven't had problems with the Spanish section but I would occasionally have problems with the French speaking course. I even tried feeding duo's own pronunciation back into the mic. It wouldn't even accept its own pronunciation! While I know I don't speak the best German, duo won't accept a SINGLE sentence I say in German! At all! So for the lessons where the mic function doesn't work, I just hit the "can't speak now" button and press on. Don't worry too much about speaking to duo, it's just not that reliable.
