Difference between einfach and leicht

What's the difference contextually between einfach and leicht?

Hi Susan, both words can be used to describe a task or a question. If somebody say "This was easy." then you can translate it with both words.

Das war leicht. = Das war einfach.

If one is talking about weight then there is only one solution.

Der Koffer ist leicht.

Einfach= Easy - as to do

Leicht= Easy/Leight - as in to lift or physical

There is also leicht as in easy to do and that can interchange with einfach
