Spanish vs. Romanian
What do you think? Here's a video called, "Similarities Between Spanish and Romanian" -
What's your opinion on these two langauges? Are they similar or different? And which language would you prefer of the other...
I speak Spanish and I barely understand Romanian. The words are related, but not too similar, and the grammar is very different. Romanian is a beautiful language, though.
They are Both Romance languages, therefore they have a lot of similarities. The main difference is cases, Romanian has cases and that makes it more difficult to learn for an English speaker. I would prefer Spanish because it is easier and a lot more people speak it in a large geographical area.
In general the spoken language is "similar", meaning if you speak Spanish you may get words. I heard the opposite is also true for Romanian. As to which one you should learn depends on your purpose, if you can do both.
Having some knowledge in Spanish I can learn Romanian faster, which means they have some things in common, but as Romanian also has some words of Slavic origin, it makes it quite special, and the Romanian grammar and phonetics is harder for me. I enjoy learning Romanian, and I chose it because I wanted to learn some language that not too many people know. As for Spanish it opens larger possibilities for communication, and its basics are easy enough to grasp to start speaking quickly. Although in the long run, I think advanced Spanish grammar is not easy either.
