Vuelvo a Guatemala
Last July, I spent a week working in a hospital in a tiny village in Guatemala. I could count to ten in Spanish, but was otherwise incapable of communicating with the people I was there to serve. When I returned to the States, several friends suggested this website. I joined on August 1, 2017, and during the past 11 months I have worked my way up to Level 22 in the English-Spanish course and Level 10 in the Spanish-English course. I have begun taking Spanish-language Bible correspondence courses and have earned diplomas in several of them. A friend, who has worked as a Latin American missionary, and I have begun hosting a Spanish-language worship service at the church every Sunday with visitors from Mexico, Honduras, Venezuela, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. I have taken on the role of song-leader at the service, as well as leading prayers and occasionally preaching or teaching. I have been asked to serve as a deacon over the extensive mission work that is supported by our congregation. On Saturday I leave to return to Guatemala, now armed with an extensive vocabulary (although maybe not so much grammar) and I OWE SO MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FREE WEBSITE FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST YEAR. Maybe by next year I will be able to post this message totalmente en Espanol.</pre>
