Reverse tree in parallel with the main tree

Hello,

I was trying to learn the reverse Spanish to English tree to strengthen my Spanish basics. However, when I add the reverse tree to my account, looks like it replaces the original English to Spanish course and I can only see one course in my account

Can someone do both a main and reverse courses at the same time without losing either from their account? Or, is this a limitation one has to work with?

Thank You

You have not lost the English to Spanish course, you just need to start a new course and select English as the language to Learn from and then Select Spanish.

Yes, I think you can do both courses at the same time.
If I click on your profile, then this is what I see :

Languages
Spanish - Level 25
Total XP: 39251 XP
English - Level 1
Next level: 60 XP
Total XP: 0 XP

So, I think you've already "activated" the reverse tree.
Go to the home page, hover over your profile picture, a new menu appears, choose the course you want to do.

There is no limit but if you are working from the app, you can only see courses from the same source language. To switch, you need to go on the site first and select "English from Spanish", and then revert to the app. I know, it's a bit of a nuisance, but despite many requests, it's still not fixed.

I had the same thing, it looked really weird. It takes a while for the app to settle down (at first it didn't show my reverse tree while in English) and even now, sometimes there's weird minor glitches. Like my languages here on the forum are ordered weird since I added the reverse tree. All things that are needed are functional though, so give it time and it should settle.

Thanks all for your comments. Duolingo initially didn't seem to recognize I had added a reverse tree, the only way to go into the reverse tree was to change my settings every time. Now, after a while (not sure if there is a specific time involved here), I see both my courses listed under 'Learning' on my account.

Another minor irritant is that it doesn't seem possible to set language specific daily goals. The XP I gain on one course seem to be valid on the goal for another course on my account too making it appear am achieving the same number of XPs on both courses when in reality I am not. Hopefully, these will be fixed in the future. For anyone curious, I am using the desktop Duolingo app
