A Spanish Grammatical Question?

I would have added this to the discussion board provided, but it was started 5 years ago then locked and my question wasn't in the discussion. The question asked me to translate "hello, excuse me" I wrote "Hola, perdon." The answer was "Hola, perdona" (with an accent on the o for mine and a on their's). Can someone explain to me what I did wrong and why perdona is correct?

Both are right. Sometimes all possible answers aren't considered until one person reports new possibilities.

Perdone (usted); Perdona (tú); Perdoná (vos).
These are verbs conjugated in the imperative. You can also say Perdón, which is a substantive.
