How do I clear the red dot?

I was already past the final checkpoint when I got the new Spanish tree last week. Much of what came before was gold. Now I have three red dots on duome: People, Common Phrases, and Family.

I looked at my profile: "next_lesson":{"lesson_number":1,"skill_title":"Common Phrases","skill_url":"Common-Phrases"}

So I've been practicing Common Phrases. Over and over and over. I do it once, then go do a different skill I'm improving or learning. Then I come back to it. I reload the profile, and it's the same. I do it several times in succession, then reload the profile, and it's the same. I've done it several dozen times today, with no change in the "next lesson."

When I practice, it's the same phrases each time, with an occasional different one thrown in. Mostly it's the same ones.

Can anyone tell me what works to clear this?

You cannot. This is explained in

09.07.2018 · The Small Red Dot Demystified

The small red dot on the progress page simply replaces the "+x lessons missing" line for L5 skills to make it slightly less annoying/confusing. Taking any skill to level 5 is quite an achievement in itself and I didn't want to take anything away from it, and those missing lessons can be way too frustrating at L5.
Anyway, a small red dot would be there if there are some "missing_lesons" in this particular skill in your extended profile.
Just a small reminder that you may still wish to take care of those missing lessons as soon as there's a chance to take care of them.

I'd like to do that. I've been trying all day by using the practice button, to no avail.

(And how do I offset a quote like you did?)

To make a Quote, you'll need to use [>] for each one that you would like to create.

It's impossible, because it is a bug in Duolingo.

From reading the forum, I saw that there used to be a way to use the old test-out facility to clear it, but that now it's been disabled. I was hoping someone would have found a different fix.

I am having the exact same problem with "Common Phrases." Glad you posted this.

Shame you didn't realise before you got them to level 5 because there is test out option if you go to https://duome.eu/the_mama/progress/ and hit the key symbol

I've cleared two of my problem skills this way. I still have issue with same three as you but seeing as they are only level 3 they will get fixed when (eventually) I get the whole tree to level 3

They were already level five when I got the new tree.
