  5. I achieved my first Japanese …

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Clifford.Steven

I achieved my first Japanese language-learning goal!

I know this is so self-congratulatory, but I wanted to share this with my Duolingo pals.

When I first started seriously learning Japanese at the beginning of 2018 (New Year's resolution!), the first mini goal I set for myself was to complete the Duolingo Japanese course. I actually achieved that a few months ago, but then the course structure changed to the crown level system. So I modified my original goal to be to have a completely golden Duolingo Japanese tree. I'm happy to say I finally achieved that yesterday!

Duolingo helped me to kick off my love for learning this language, so I hope you all achieve your goals as well! みんなさん、頑張りましょう!

Would you say DuoLingo helped you significantly with learning Japanese?

      https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Clifford.Steven

I think Duolingo gives a great introduction to a variety of N5-level topics and grammar points. If you use it in conjunction with a few other resources (textbooks, other apps, books, etc.) then I think Duolingo is a great tool for reinforcement!

      他のディスカッションでクリフさんのご説明を見ていたら、ずいぶん長く日本語を勉強しているだろうと思いました。まさか今年からまじめに勉強し始めたと思いませんでした。大したもんですよ。

      おめでとうございます!

I am frustrated! I just want to learn a few phrases for tourists in Tokyo. I'm going in February, 2021. But DuoLingo wants me to learn how to READ Japanese and that seems like way too much effort. Anyone have suggestions? I'm paying for the Plus upgrade but may cancel it.

Learn Japanese in just 5 minutes a day. For free.
