This alphabet is so easy holy
In comparison to English, Korean is more of a visual language i love it why did it get banned so many time in like the 14th century
It got banned many times because the Joseon dynasty scholars were shocked at how easy it was, and they stated that even fools could learn it in a day. So, hanja continued to be the preferred method of writing until the 1970s or so, and even then it was used alongside hangul.
And yet people on duolingo learn it for "months" and can't figure it out
"When a document written in Han-geul that criticizes the tyranny of Yonsangoon(연산군) appeared in 1504, Yonsangoon gave an order to ban learning Han-geul, to burn all the books in Han-geul and to report all the people who could use Han-geul." - http://www.korean.go.kr/eng_hangeul/supply/001.html
Also japan banned it during annexation.
Korean alphabet is very easy and very scientific. but Korean language is very difficult.
https://www.viki.com/tv/1585c-tree-with-deep-roots?q=tree Knowledge is power. The elites of the Joseon dynasty wanted to maintain their position of power, and it is much easier to control a population that is illiterate. A similar situation existed for hundreds of years with the Catholic church repressing the publication of Bibles in languages other than Latin.
