"We are in Tanzania"

Translation:Tuko Tanzania

Is Tanzania too big and vague for this to be Tumo even though it's "in"?

it's more common to use 'tumo' for structures you are inside of, like nyumbani, shuleni, etc. So I think that, yes, that would be a good rule of thumb; even if Tanzania is technically enclosed by borders, it may be too vast to apply 'tumo' to.

Silly question, but what if somebody built walls and a roof around all of Tanzania?

I suppose. That would essentially turn Tanzania into one giant house people can get inside of

I have noticed (it is hard not to!) that almost all these sentences are about Tanzania. I think it is odd, since Kenya is the bigger and more well-known country, and in the United States, even Uganda is more well-known than Tanzania. I can only surmise that the people putting together this program must all be from Tanzania. Or is there some other reason??? BTW, I have to give kudos for this program. Other than on it's inordinate focus on Tanzania (! ;-) ! ), it is so much easier than some of the other programs. Like, this is the very first I've ever studied Swahili, and I am usually able to guess the answers, which is a nice positive reinforcement. I am STRUGGLING with Vietnamese, I think they could use some tips from how you put your course together. I really appreciate all you people who put this course together, THANK YOU!
