Hooray! Level 25 x 2

On 27/1/2018, I completed my first Level 25 (German for English speakers), and immediately started the reverse tree. Today I finished it and reached my second Level 25.

I love learning German - even though it drives me crazy - and I aim to be fluent one day.

As for today? I start climbing the Russian tree. After I learn the alphabet. Haha.

If it wouldn't be so annoying to transfer lingots I'd give you fifty for the achievement of fifty levels. So you have to live with just five. Congratulations for the little forrest you started to gather. Keep going

I'm very impressed. I'm working on both my German for English Speakers tree and English for German Speakers. I haven't finished either tree yet - but I am slowly making progress.

Congrats Jane, I am also working on both, the English and the German tree. Last sunday the German one became all red (beside some golden ones on the top). Red means level 3, so I was looking forward what I have to learn to get to level 4 in all lessons. Guess how many! 1335 lessons, I think that will take some time, even with crazy 50 a day. Today I did the same on my English tree, all red, beside some golden ones on the top. To reach level 4, there are just 812 lessons to go. Is that serious??? If anyone reaches a golden tree, let my know! Though I doubt that it will happen during my lifetime. Anyway, keep on learning

Thanks Jay41365! Hey, you do know that you don't have to do every single lesson right? Instead of pressing 'start' you can press that little round icon that looks like a key. If you know the material you can jump up levels and not constantly repeat lessons you already know. I calculate I should have my tree fully golden in a week. Race you there!

Herzlichen Glückwunsch! :)

Do you think that it's helpful to do the reverse tree? I don't know if I should do it or just keep practicing on the German from English tree (well, after I finish the whole tree and make it golden). Would you say it's better to do the reverse tree instead?

On reflection, I think it is worth starting the reverse tree:

  1. Just to experience a German website. I found it challenging initially to navigate when I didn't understand the drop-down commands. So I started off learning the German equivalents for 'Your profile', 'Settings', Help', 'Keyboard shortcuts', etc.

  2. The discussion pages are also by German speakers, so that is immersive and forces you to translate.

  3. To get another tree can be motivating.

However, I am glad to be back to the German-for-English speakers, because you get the very important benefit of hearing the German pronunciation - which you don't get on the other tree.

Thanks for your answer!

I actually started playing around with the reverse tree after posting my comment, and I agree with you that it's a negative thing that your don't get to hear the German pronunciation. Plus the exercises where you write down what you hear become useless. But other than that it seems to be fun. I'll definitely keep doing it now, since it means more material for me to practice German with.

I played a game with the exercises that you have to write in English. As I was typing the English, I would imagine the German answer and then check it (in the small type bottom left) before I moved on. That way, those exercises were not a waste of time.

I'll make sure to test that trick out when coming across those exercises. Thanks!

If you untoggle audio in Settings, you'll skip the listening exercises.
