email already in use
I'm trying to merge devices, but I get reply that email is already in use (I have 2 different emails). There seems to be many posts with the same general post about this problem, but no reply yet. Specifically I'm trying to merge my iPad and iPhone with no luck. Previously I noted I was trying to merge Duolingo on iPhone and PC (also no reply) Currently my iPad and PC seem to synchronize OK, but not with iPhone, any suggestions?
You're trying to create a NEW account on the new device. You don't want to do that, you want to login to the new device with the old account.
If you accidentally pressed the "Let's get started" button instead of the "I already have an account" button, you may need to log out of Duolingo on the new device before you can log back in again with your existing credentials.
I'm not 100% sure I understand your question but I can tell you this:
Duolingo keeps all their data on their servers. If you use the same email / password on multiple devices you will be logging into the same account on the Duolingo servers and everything will stay in sync.
You cannot merge two separate accounts that use separate email addresses.
If you are getting "email already in use" then you are trying to create a new account, not log into an existing account.
Basically it is an IOS app problem.
You guys just don't find the correct user login button as it was horribly coded.
