"Give me ten seconds" appears to be more of a western colloquialism
Yes, it's not very common to hear this in actual life. 等等/等一下 ("wait") is much more common. If the time span is required, they would say 再等十秒钟 ("wait another ten seconds").
给我十秒种 should also be accepted no?
