Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Made my first video entirely in Spanish!

Hi Duolingo. First of all I'd like to say that Duolingo has helped me a lot, especially through difficult times. I began using Duolingo in 2016 to learn Spanish, and I conversed with people on the Spanish language forum in Spanish to practice. I combined this with watching YouTube videos and TV shows in Spanish on a daily basis. I have also combined it with a number of websites, such as Memrise.

I have made a video about my latest difficulties with the Hawaiian eruptions. It is unedited, so you can really see how I speak Spanish (it's very monotone haha)

This was the result: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR2GJiHQJC0

Thank you to Duolingo for helping me learn vocabulary.

WOOW! How long have you been learning Spanish? Do you talk to other people outside the internet? Your pronunciation is very good and your grammar is perfect. I'm sorry for you day during the eruption but good job for the video :)

I think it would be nice if you share your learning method in more detail. Results are impressive.

I have been learning Spanish for two years, and no, I don't talk to people outside of the internet ^^

I owe most of my pronunciation skills to listening, listening, listening (this is after all how kids learn) more than anything else. But I rarely speak Spanish, if not at all, so this video was certainly a big deal for me :)

whoa! :O That's extremely impressive! Do you have any Spanish TV shows to recommend for a beginner/intermediate spanish learner?

Thank you so much! There's two different types of shows I like watching.

First, a lot of my pronunciation skills came from watching my favorite American TV shows dubbed in Spanish, as they usually have neutral accents. For example, Modern Family in Spanish, Black-ish, Gravity Falls, The Amazing World of Gumball, Spongebob (still a kid at heart) etc. all this in Spanish dubbing. So I recommend that you find a Spanish dub of your favorite TV shows, as they are very common.

As for actual Spanish-language (more advanced, I'd say) shows, I love the series Lo Que Callamos Las Mujeres.

It's wonderful. Your Spanish is really good. I really like your slow and neutral accent. I'm very impressed. I hope you can make other videos not only in Spanish, but also in another language that you've learned in Duolingo. This is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your amazing progress :)

Did you write all of that out first?
I'm just curious. I could understand you very well, and my Spanish is okay, but I could never talk for so long, and at such a nice pace, without having it all written out beforehand. LOL.
You're doing awesome.

That's awesome! Wanna be friends? well your improvement is great. I spent two years on my French course, but I couldn't develop as well as you. Maybe, because I do not have any French speaker around myself :)

You speak too fast for me to understand - that shows how advanced your Spanish is. One suggestion would be to add Spanish subtitles as you have done in English. I know there is the option to use autogenerated Spanish subtitles but they are not accurate.
