FINALLY finished the POLISH TREE!

Ah, what a journey it has been!!

From not even knowing what "tak" meant to now being able to form basic sentences (very slowly), it's been quite the journey conquering the Polish tree. And to honor the 11 months it took me to complete it, here's 11 words that took me forever to pronounce!

  1. ciasteczko
  2. prześcieradło
  3. trzy (I still canNOT say this correctly)
  4. pszczoła
  5. niedźwiedź
  6. międzynarodowy
  7. szczęście
  8. wszystko
  9. małżeństwo
  10. pomarańczowy
  11. wrzesień

Dziękuję bardzo Duolingo for providing us a wonderful course for such a beautiful language! I'm looking forward to becoming more comfortable conversationally and grammatically in the future!

Same here! I started the Polish tree knowing very little, too.

Congratulations on the amazing achievement! :)

Yeah I remember those days when I almost gave up the first time I heard "dziewczynka" hahaha thank you and good luck on your journey as well!

Congratulations on finishing the tree!

I finished the Polish tree today... I still don't speak Polish though. :D I think I finished it in little over a month. I'm now going to focus on reaching level 5 in all the skills and I've ordered a children's book, so I can start reading and expanding my vocabulary.

Thank you and congrats to you as well! It sure isn't an easy feat, especially when completing it in a month! I'm also focusing on collecting more crowns and reading beginner's books too!

Aye aye thank you!

I started to learning Polish nowadays. So i want to know that do you feel ready to speak? (İf this sentence contains a grammatical mistake sorry about that) and congrats!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Jerzy-ru

Of course, no :) Duolingo helps to remember some words and phrases but it does not teach to speak. You need learn grammar on another sources and try to talk with real people. Duolingo still give more expirience (skill).

I see :) Dziękuję bardzo

Thank you! And although I know many new words, I don't yet (emphasis on the "yet") feel comfortable talking conversationally. However, I do try to practice with my boyfriend (a native Polish speaker) and always keep my ears open when I'm around other native speakers. I've become very familiar with how words are pronounced, the next step is just to get them out of my mouth!! Best of luck to you!

Good Job and keep moving forward ;)!

congratulations! keep it up. Make it your own language. Wish you all the best and hope that you master this language at the earliest with you dedication and meaningful engagement.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/graciiek

Thank you! Yes, Polish has become very meaningful to me, as it is the language that connects my s/o's family and I together (especially when english isn't sufficient).

Well done!! Thanks for sharing too, its inspirational. Hope you carry on the language journey.

Dziękuję bardzo! I still sometimes shock myself; I went from knowing absolute no words to being able to converse very basically and to pick up words/phrases in very fast Polish conversations!

Moje gratulacje! :-)

Mam nadzieję, że chcesz kontynuować naukę języka polskiego. Serdecznie pozdrawiam. :-)

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/graciiek

Dziękuję bardzo!! Tak, chcę kontynuować naukę języka polskiego!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/mandragora8888

Warto znaleźć kogoś, z kim można trochę porozmawiać. Lubię również czytać - zaczęłam z wierszami i tekstami piosenek. To na początku było bardzo mosolne, ale z czasem idzie coraz lepiej… :-)

Życzę Ci powodzenia i przyjemności w nauce!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/graciiek

Tak! Mój chłopak jest Polakiem i lubię ćwiczę z nim i zacznę czytać książki dla dzieci

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/mandragora8888

To bardzo dobry pomysł! :-) Książki dla dzieci, bajeczki, wiersze, albo krótkie aforyzmy - ja też tak zaczęłam. Teraz staram się czytać i rozumieć wiersze słynnej Wisławy Szymborskiej… tomik jej wierszy przywiózł mi dobry przyjaciel z Polski. :-) Mogę z nim też porozmawiać, jak mam jakiekolwiek trudności ze słowami.

Trzymaj się! Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Hamburga! :-)

Congratulation!! And mam nadzieję, że dobrze wykorzystasz znajomość języka polskiego. Tak trzymaj ;) Good job!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/A.Igor

Gratulacje! Ale te słowa nie są aż tak trudne, jak dziewięćdziesięciodziewięcioipółlatek :-)

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/mandragora8888

A co to słowo dokładnie znaczy??? Ninety-nine hundred years old?... and half? :D Czy co?

:-)

p.s. Du kannst es mir natürlich auch auf deutsch schreiben!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/A.Igor

Na ja, ich bin nicht sicher... Es wird wahrscheinlich neunundneunzigeinhalbjährigen sein. Wörtlich.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/mandragora8888

Danke! Dann habe ich es ja wohl richtig verstanden! :D Das "...ipółlatek" hat mich etwas irritiert. Beste Grüße!

Thank you!!

Well done!!!! I speak a little of Polish (I live 3km from Poland) and it's not easy at all. And I speak Czech, so that helps.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/graciiek

Actually, I visited Czech just a few months ago and I could not communicate with the receptionist at a hotel I was staying in, since she did not speak English very well. Since I had known some Polish back then, I decided to just speak basic phrases in Polish and heck she actually understood what I wanted to say! (This also happened in a small store in Slovakia.) It's amazing to see how learning the basics in a language can help you get around in even other countries!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/graciiek

Dziękuję!! Ah yes, I have a few friends from Czech and the language (or certain words) seems to be (somewhat) similar to the Polish language!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/SabaTanare

Tak, Polski jest bardzo trudnym językiem. Gratuluję wytrwałości.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/graciiek

Dziękuję bardzo! Tak, język polski jest bardzo trudny, ale jest pięknym językiem!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/BiologicalLang

I understood what you said but I don't know how to give a fully detailed reply so: Tak, to jest pięknym językiem.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Jellei

You wouldn't really use this "to" in Polish, it sounds strange. The subject of the sentence has just been stated (by graciiek), so in your answer there's no need to state it, as it's obvious already what it is.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Anton_Slavik

Familiar feeling. You can understand complex Polish sentences, but you can barely speak/write anything back xD

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MS_Genius88

Good job, have a couple lingots for learning such a difficult language.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Parvati180616

Bravo! My hardest word I still can't pronounce is sprzedac - to sell. No way, can't do it! All the rest are so easy compared to that.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Sunflower0905

Wow! Gratulacje! Polski to trudny język... jeśli chodzi o "trzy": - "T" - just like in English - "RZ" - in this word you can say it more like "sh" in English. - "Y" - sound like in word "my" or "wy"- in polish
