In English "she is a girl",

In French we never say "elle est une fille"

fille is a noun,

but we have to say "elle est belle" ou "elle est grande"

belle and grande are adjectives.

In English you say "she is a doctor" and we say "c'est un médecin",

you say "he is a plumber" and we say "c'est un plombier". (doctor and plumber are nouns)

He is handsome = Il est beau (handsome and beau are adjectives)

This is why French is not English, and reciprocally.

«In English you say "she is a doctor" and we say "c'est un médecin"» Est ce que vous en êtes sur?

Qui arrive? C'est un médécin = Who is here? It is a doctor. Je te présente mon frère. Il est médécin = This is my brother, He is a doctor.

General rule is C'est + noun or pronoun: il/elle est + adverb or adjective BUT professions exclude the article and take "il/elle est"

Tu as raison. J'ai parlé un peu vite, tu es venu remettre les pendules à l'heure. Comme quoi, l'union fait la force. Merci. You're right. I spoke a little too fast, you came to correct my mistake. It shows that unity is strength. Thank you.

When followed by a modified noun such as "une fille" (fille is modified by "une") you use c'est.
