Word smash?

Sorry if this is a really stupid newbie question, but what are you supposed to do in "word smash"? (It's on Duolingo mobile app only.)

Should a compound word be formed out of those two pictures or something?

Smash the words together to form one idea like house + fire = firehouse.

Use the words associated with the two images in a sentence.

Thanks! I had doubts because there is already an exercise like that ("Use this word in a sentence").

Yes, I don't get that exercise either. We have it for German and I'm always trying to think of a combo word. And of course in German they do that all the time.
