Do telenovelas help?

I notice I remember some phrases and words from back when I watched a TV channel that showed telenovelas with subtitles. Which ones would you suggest? Maybe start with ones I've seen dubbed (Lalola (Argentina), Betty La Fea (original), Culpable de este amor, Aurora, La tempestad) and then go for new ones?

My favorites are Lalola, Betty, Culpable de este amor, Aurora, La tempestad, Muñeca de trapo, and many others I saw on Zone Romantica (thankfully in my country it was with subtitles).

Try Colombian telenovelas from 1990's: Yo soy Betty la Fea, Café con aroma de mujer, La viuda de Blanco, La Potra Zaina, Pedro El Escamoso or El Oasis. They have good scripts and good performers.

If you are learning Spanish maybe you can watch some traditional Spanish programs, In Mexico and Colombia have too many good options to see. From Mexico search: "Cuna de lobos" "Marimar" "Mirada de Mujer"

From Colombia search: "Cafe con Aroma de Mujer" "Pasion de Gavilanes" "La hija del Mariachi"

And one extra from Argentina "Amor en custodia"

I hope this information serves you. Maybe if you like I can recommend very good latin series. Greetings.

Anna y los siete (Spain) aka Mi corazon es tuyo (Mexico) https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ana_y_los_7 Television series. It is a mixture of Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music. Rich man with 7 kids, wife dies; he needs a nanny, who knows French and German; ends up getting Anna, who works evening as a stripper in a bar. When he finds out that she is a stripper, he is ready to fire her but the kids love her, and eventually he will love her too. Look for the Spanish version and the Mexican version on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ebmh2sMJFMU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abdV5uj_VhA

If you are in the USA or have access to a VPN in the USA, then I would recommend Destinos. http://www.learner.org/series/destinos/watch/ep1/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destinos

Sometimes parts or all of Destinos appears on youtube. youtube.com Search: Destinos Also recently parts of the textbook including the original audio CDs appeared on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-u0n9o2t6U
