Phone App Not Configuring

I have had some major issues getting my XP points each day. I usually do my Duolingo on a PC and have no problems. I have minimal access to an iPad, but when I do get to use it, there are no problems there either. However, on a number of occasions now, I have tried to do my Duolingo on my phone (or a friend's phone but on my account), only to go onto the website at night and see that my points did not in fact count, or that only one of my two exercises was counted.

The other day, I got 20 XP on the phone and did not check it, but my streak freeze saved me because no points registered at all that. I don't have a great internet connection and sometimes the page just refreshes when I finish a lesson rather than giving me points, but the phone app has really been causing me issues, especially since it shows my points as being counted on the phone but not on other platforms.

Is anyone else not able to successfully use the phone app?

It is important when using the apps to check every day that you have a streak freeze enabled and that any practice you have has been synchronised with the website. This is especially important if your network connection has difficulties or the server is incredibly busy.

On my phone, I use Wi-Fi, and it lets me open the chests to get lingots, so I would think it would register that.

When I use the app on a friend's phone through their data (since I have no data on my phone), it also lets me open chests... but it's no different than when I use the Wi-Fi on mine; sometimes the points count, and sometimes they don't. Very frustrating!

General tips

Unfortunately, Duolingo's servers are very slow in synchronizing the data on your device and the databases on their servers.

Advice

1) Never log out Duolingo or your device before you have forced the synchronisation:

  • App:
Select another course in the App
Tap the flame icon to check if it still shows "You've met your daily goal"

  • www.duolingo.com:
    Refresh your browser.

2) Check the synchronisation in your unofficial but very useful progress page
