I wrote "food, drink" because I'm under the impression that, like Spanish, definite articles are used with generic nouns. Is this really wrong?

I did the same thing. It seems like sometimes you need to put "the" in the answer and sometimes you don't. I haven't figured out why yet.

With nourriture, how is there a difference between 'dinner' and 'diet'?

I wrote food, drink as well. I think either should be okay.

"the drinks" sounds more normal to me, even if it's not literal...
