"I am from Jakarta."
Translation:Saya berasal dari Jakarta.
Translation here should specify "I originate from" as previous example (saya dari Bali) was "I am from". Just to clearly distinguish for learners.
why is berasal needed? not mentioned in notes? when can i use dari? when can i use berasal? and when can i used both?
berasal needs dari. It means to originate from.
Saying dari on its own is okay but is not 100% clear. For example, I might be coming from bali but I actually from Jakarta. Saying berasal clarifies that.
How would you make this negative? Saya tidak dari Jakarta? Or Saya bukan dari Jakarta?
