It can in context, but /memasak/ would be more specifically 'to cook' (and more likely to be used). Also, where I live, I was taught that the word is spelled /mei/ rather than /mi/ for 'noodles'.
Really? Making the noodles yourself!? I translated as 'I sometimes cook noodles' and it was incorrect..
