Something more natural would be "She married when she was twenty years old"
I disagree. It's ok to say "she married" in plenty of dialects of English

"She marries when she is twenty years old." What indication is there that this is past tense?
WHY doesn't it accept without "years old"? "... when she was twenty" is CORRECT!
