The British English equivalent of this is "Last year I was in year six" which ought to be accepted really, in my view.

I've just come round to this again as a "crack" and want to stand up for BrE - in which this is expressed as ".... in year six." I reported it should be accepted.

Might be. Czech uses a similar alternative: ročník. Vloni jsem byla v šestém ročníku.

Petition to count "yesteryear" as correct.

Může být Last year I was in sixth class?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/BoneheadBass

From the AmE perspective, "grade" is generally used to refer to the year of schooling, while "class" usually refers to a subject of study. Examples: "When I was in sixth grade, my history class as really hard." -- "My math class starts at 10:30." -- "His brother is only in third grade." -- "I was in biology class from 2:00 to 3:00 today."

Vloni = Loni - nechtělo mi to uznat

Nemáme žádný report. Je třeba vždy zmáčknout "My answer should have been accepted". Skoro vždy je chebaa někde jinde, i když někdy je nějaký problém v Duolingu samotném. Obojí je uznáváno.
