Crown level 100!

I have finally reached the crown level 100 in Czech (no, i'm not that far into the tree, but I have the first lessons all at level 5).

For you, new Czech learners, I do recommend doing what I did, since the Czech course doesn't teach you conjugations and declinations that much, nor the logic and rules behind them, so memorizing it would be of great help.

I STILL HAVE A LONG JOURNEY AHEAD! Wish me luck please!!! :)

So what do you believe the first twenty skills you brought to crown level 5 (and their tips and notes) are teaching?

When I just did the duolingo course I did'nt do much progress in memorizing the patterns only when I studied them seperately and intensively using Anki I felt like making satisfying progress per time invested. Oddly I only had problems memorizing declension not conjugation (maybe because it's the first foreign language that has cases aswell, like my mother tongue).

Thanks for that Anki advice, I'll see if it works for me :) Btw, would you like a Czech club (TAHH6M), I'm looking for dedicated and serious learners to join (you seem like one).

well 2k seems like an awful lot of xp per week tough. :D atm. I do about at least 500 per week and at my peak I did 1500 (when i rushed to the bottom of the course to find out what the "What the?!" is about :D) maybe it's time to pick up my pace again. I'll decide on monday as it's still satisfying to win

Well, as for that, I don't really care much. You can join anyway if you want as long as you study every week... or almost every week.

every day you mean, lol. The club I am currently in only has like up to 10 active users out of 50 so I'll probably switch anyway.

I didn't mean to offend you as a contributor, I was just saying the way the Czech course works is different from others, and probably a little less effective. (I know we've discussed this before).

I was not asking because of being offended. We are planning our second tree, so if we can figure out something useful for that effort, we should. Of course, it is not useful to figure out that having a more complex language to teach or more limited tools to teach it with makes it harder to learn. As some of us say in Czech, dětma nezatopíš.

I see... I do agree with CrisrtophS49077 though. Is it possible to make fill-in-the-gap questions like those we always see in German for example?

They could be helpful, and possibly more information about conjugations rules. that could appear on that little light bulb.

I think the fill-in-the-gap type of question would be good for learning declension, unfortunately I rarely had them. I went through the tree first getting everything unlocked and by the time I was done I could easily skip the first 15 or so skills to level 5 since I studied the declension separately with Anki. So I may have skipped those type of questions. PS: is "dětma" an old form of "dítě"? Closest thing I found was "dětmi".

You felt it right ,"dětma" is just colloquial form of "dětmi".

The course has a lot of forms exercises, although we cannot influence whether they will be shown to users. We have not made a forms exercise out of every sentence, so we could load more of them in hopes they will be shown and use them to exercise what needs to be exercised.

From your question about dětma I would suggest you do the final skill to another crown level or two and maybe compare it with what is going on with the instrumental endings in the Dual skill. For the dual exceptions, the -ma instrumental is standard (medvěd s šesti nohama), but in "common", non-standard Czech it has spread far and wide (kluci s klukama).

That's fair enough. You can't do anything only at one go anyway. As far as I know, the Czech treew has never been updated, so it's normal not to have all the features included.
