First Timer

I just started learning Spanish and with the help of Duolingo, it doesn't seem that intimidating as much as I thought it would.

Thanks Duolingo!!!!

Welcome! I just started about a month ago and in just a few weeks, I can see an improvement. My problem as been recognizing the breaks in-between words. Sometimes it sounds like one long sentence. I can speak it enough for the other person to understand me, but can't understand the person's response if it's more than three words! There's some sort of blockage, but so far Duolingo has helped.

Not intimidating at all at first, but it does become more difficult as you work your way up the tree. (Recently started German myself, and finding the basics ridiculously easy.) The good news is, you’ll likely surprise yourself with your progress along the way.

Just for fun, you might want to try a lesson now that’s way beyond where you are at the moment. Then in the weeks/months/years to come, when you get to those lessons, you’ll be amazed at how much easier they are to decipher.

I love Duo...there’s a lot of self-gratification that comes with applying yourself to the program.

Buena suerte!

It's good to see the enthusiasm you all have. I also have found duolingo a good place to learn and enjoyable way to do it. Don't be discouraged when you hit bumps in learning spanish. Keep putting effort in and it gets easier....until it get hard again. Practice until it gets easier again.
I've also been learning there are a lot of good people out there just trying to improve themselves. Keep it up.

I used to think I was terrible at learning new languages, but it turned out that it was just an incompatibility with the way it had been presented to me. Duolingo helped me unlock a completely new facet of life. I hope it will provide you with the same sort of renaissance. Enjoy!
