is there a tip for remembering the difference between paani and pini? I keep confusing the two words.

पानी is water, पीना is drink. They do sound similar! Use them in sentences more often and you'll sort 'em out quickly.

I've seen tea spelled different ways across different platforms. Are spellings fluid?

चाय is the correct spelling

The wikitionary page says there are alternative forms.

Just out of curiosity, what other platforms are you talking about?

Sorry, I'm just seeing this- I've seen it spelled differently on Drops.

I haven't seen it spelt differently. Are you sure the different spellings you've seen were in Hindi and not in a different language that uses the Devanagari script?

How does one ask a "Tea or water" question in Hindi?

"Chai ya paani?" sorry about the romanization. And if any native speakers are here, please tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Yes, that's correct. :)

Chai ya paani = tea or water Chai aur paani = tea and water

The question says chai aur paani

"Chai-paani" said this way, is a slang for a bribe, almost all across the country where Hindi is spoken.
