Some questions about the terms for Sunday.

[deactivated user]

I see there are two ways of saying Sunday: 星期天 and 星期日. Does it make any difference which of the two terms are used?

Also, according to Google Translate, 星期七 also means Sunday. Is that correct? That app sometimes makes mistakes. Would I be understood if I say it like that?

Personally, I think that 星期天is used more often butin mandarin there are many ways to say one idea. I think it would depend on who you are talking to and what word they prefer.

About Putonghua only: 星期日 is formal. 星期七 is casual and rare. 星期天, 礼拜天 and 周日 are common and natural for everyday conversation.

Hong Kong's Cantonese speakers have their preference too (in Cantonese!): 星期日, 礼拜日 (禮拜日) and 週日 are the most common. Some people like to say 星期七 sometimes.
