I'm Looking For A Native Speaker And A Study Group To Practise Chinese
I am looking for a native speaker who I can practise Chinese with. I am also looking for a study group, preferably not on Duolingo because the immersive learning features here are too limited.
I am a beginner in Chinese when it comes to writing and reading Chinese characters, but because of my regular listening practice, I have a good understanding of how the language is spoken.
Please help me!
I'm not sure how i can help you with the native speaker part,I can speak though. But i am chinese so i could try to help you answer any questions:)
Have you ever seen circles (clouds) drawn around part of a Chinese character? What are the circles (clouds) used for in these characters 錦綉唐朝?
This is the picture of the four Chinese characters with the clouds drawn on them: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mhyIuJP5XNPsokHO134rA_5mN0S9U3qC
That's interesting. I haven't seen anything like that unfortunately but certain symbols/words mean special things in China (not so sure about the cloud)Take this word for example -福- It is common for it to be hung upside down in many chinese houses for blessing/peace. I'm sure you'll find something helpful online. Sorry that i couldn't answer the cloud questions. :)
Thanks, I just wanted to know what the clouds meant. I assume this is the company name, but I just realized to check the meaning of the radical circled.
巾 (turban/scarf) + ㇎ (N/A), 丿 (bend) + 口 (mouth) + 日 (sun/day) = Anyone?
I live in China and haven't encountered those. But maybe I just haven't noticed. I will look out for them though
Look at their store sign, see how 錦綉唐朝 was altered? https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g294217-d14933016-i333791173-Elegant_Tang_Dynasty-Hong_Kong.html
That's just a form of art, like how some English characters are exaggerated lol.
Thank you for willing to help me. :) I would like to improve my speaking so do you mind if I ask you to check an audio or two each month?
I would try a local Chinese meetup, Asian Food Store, Chinese restaurant, Chinatown... first. I almost took a Chinese class at a local junior college, but it costs about $250.00 plus books. The class meets 4 times a week for an hour, but I just wanted access to the students to practice with. I might go visit, and try to hook up for FREE.

Thank you! :) There aren't many places to assemble a Chinese study group where I live. I will try the virtual methods you suggested, though. :)
I am also learning Chinese and was wondering if you want to study together. Thanks! I also studied a little bit of French. Je sais un peu de français. Je ne peux pas attendre!
Hey! I would like to be a part of your study group if you still have a group or want to start a group
Hey there, I am a native Chinese speaker from Malaysia :D It is my first language
I am willing to teach you Mandarin, but in exchange, can you teach me French? Currently, I am using Duolingo to learn French, and I only know the basic vocabs, grammars and greetings
Just in case if you are wondering whether I am good enough to teach you Mandarin, I got a grade A in my secondary school, so yea, i am not a cheaterrr, don't worry xD
I can teach you idioms and proverbs too because I was forced to know those when I was in secondary school, so I know quite a few (in fact, I was forced to memorize 200+ proverbs back then TTvTT)
Ummm, just an extra information, idioms are made up of 4 Chinese characters only, whereas proverbs are made up of more than 4 Chinese characters
For example: idiom成语: 鹤立鸡群, proverb谚语: 天生我材必有用
We can use Whatsapp/Line/Wechat to learn the language we want via Text Messages/Voice Messages
Yayyy! :) I'd love to do a language exchange with you.^^ I'm not a French native, but can help you until Intermediate French. I have been learning French for six years now. :) Is it fine if we use WhatsApp? I don't want to share my WhatsApp details on here, so do you have an auxillary account (Twitter, fb, Instagram or something similar) that we can use to exchange our WhatsApp phone numbers?
And, thank you for telling me the difference between idioms and proverbs in Chinese, else I'd have never known! :)
I'm so looking forward to learn from you. ^^
yassss, I will love to have you teaching me French <3 email@example.com this is my email, just send me your phone no., and i will message you after i got the phone no. :D
