The pronounciation of 'og'
Do you pronounce the 'g?' I only hear the 'g' in 'og' when I listen using the slow mode. At normal speed, it just sounds like a soft 'or' to me, which is how I've been pronouncing it. Am I wrong?
The dictionary suggests that 'og' is pronounced å. There might be a few dialects where this isn't the case.
The dictionary also suggests that the word 'òg' (meaning 'også') is pronounced either 'åg' or 'å'. Because accents are optional, you may see this written as 'og', but it's usually positioned at the end of a sentence, so it should be easy to tell them apart.
The g is usually omitted or very soft. Sometimes it is useful to articulate the g, such as when speaking in a noisy place.
"Å" og "og" og "òg" kan høres forskjellig ut, men folk flest bruker akkurat den samme måten å si alle tre.
"Å" (to) and "og" (and) and "òg" (also) can sound different, but most people use precisely the same manner to say all three.
And a lot of Norwegians even mix them up regularly when writing them. It's a common mistake when texting or posting things on the internet...
