what is the difference between they have reduced the price and they reduced the price? Is there a different conjugation for reduced?

"Walipunguza" = they reduced

"Wamepunguza" = they have reduced

Aren't those the same? Shouldn't both be acceptable in most cases?

I answered: "They have decreased the price." I was marked wrong.

Bei comes from Arabic بَيْع (bayʿ, "sale, exchange; merchandise"), from the root ب ي ع‎ (b-y-ʿ), related to selling.
