We would probably not translate bumbu.
Grilling happens over an open fire, roasting happens in an oven or similar. Few Indonesians have ovens so roasting would seem less common. Both are; however, correct.
Why is barbecueing not accepted?
just wondering why 'roast' is not an acceptable answer here?
does 'memanggang' have to be translated 'grill'?
'panggang' is heating/cooking with coal fire.
Well, at least, that's the KBBI definition.
'roast' and 'grill' should be acceptable I think.
You can roast or grill on open coal fire.
