Progress gone, please help!

Why has duolingo wiped all of my progress? I had got to level 8 on French, with A LOT of hours put into it, and now when I signed back on again I am back to level 1 with no skill points, nothing!

Your progress is inside your head not some score on a website. Take one of the test that allow you to skip sections and be back at level 8 in a flash.
