Woot! A golden tree in Hindi...but
I still don't understand half of what is said in Galli Galli Sim Sim (Indian Sesame Street), haha.
I realize this is just a Hindi starter. I've really enjoyed it, and completing the tree has encouraged me to hit the books again to continue learning.
Many thanks to those who got the English to Hindi course up and running!
बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद
Thanks, and thanks for the link as well. I tried not to look at the subtitles, but it was a little too fast to comprehend completely without them. Makes for fun practice though.
Thanks for this, I've been searching for ages for a Hindi cartoon with English subtitles! However this is Urdu. I understand the languages are similar... but exactly how similar?
This is Hindi. Urdu, Hindi... everyday speech is the same language. Go to Delhi and speak this to a Hindu person and I guarantee 100% they will say "Wow, you can speak Hindi!" Unless, if you look "Muslim" they might say, "oh you speak Urdu." Such is the social construct.
Often, the language resources labeled as "Urdu" are more realistic in reflecting spoken language because some that are labeled "Hindi" will be infected by artificial-sounding vocabulary which someone sticks in there because they believe it will make the language more "proper"... proper in this case equates to use of vocabulary to signal Hindu identity.
The language (not the script) of Duolingo Hindi course is identical to Urdu. :) Good luck!
I've been waiting so long for it to come out as well lol. I'm so excited! I just found out yesterday that it's finally here!
