You really can't say that in good English! You can say "A chicken is an animal" or "Chickens are animals".


FYI: the difference between "hewan" and "binatang" in use.

"Hewan" sounds more formal and is used in academic/scientific contexts whereas "binatang" is more frequently used in daily occasions, according to native speakers. https://hinative.com/questions/56617

Chickens are categorized as an animal, so using "hewan" in this context is better than "binatang".
