Why "Have you called the police?" is marked wrong?
I've reported it. The moderators seem to rely on the American idiom, and Americans seem to use 'did you' rather than 'have you', but both are correct.
"Did you report to the police?" Should be right
Isn't this "did you report it to the police?" ? Call the police has a slightly different meaning.
Here 报警 is an idiom for "call the police", where the "report" is not a case report, but a report for emergency / event happening.
Do some of them also mention the police department number? Like how Brits would call 999 and Americans would call 911?
It's 110 in mainland China and Taiwan, 999 in Hong Kong and Macau.
