Why the particle "ga" instead of "wa" ? The answer above uses "wa" as the particle after the subject which is "watashitachi" which is what I used as my answer but it was still marked wrong?

I can understand you. And this case you could be right. The difference of the two sentence... 1, Watashitachi wa 2, Watashitachi ga 1 is normal way to say, "We do" 2 is stressed way to say, "No other persons but we" So in this case, we are not allow anyone to eat the bread, but we are sure to eat the bread. Only the nuance.
