Are there any English native speakers who want to practice Chinese with a native Chinese speaker
Hi, everybody, My name is Terry Su, I'm a native Chinese speaker, a front-end engineer(a programmer) and love English very much.
My blog website: https://terry-su.github.io Blogs are now mainly about technology, but just ignore it.
I've learned English seriously these years and kept practicing thinking in English, and it turns out that now I can express my ideas in English naturally without interpreting them from Chinese, though it may be non-native.
I hope that I could chat with some English native speakers who want to chat with a native Chinese speakers too, and I'll make some advice for them or just chat with them freely. Maybe we could be friends at following time. And it's a pleasure if you could teach me how to write or speak more natively in English too.
The way to contact me: https://terry-su.github.io/blog/detail/about-author.html
Or we can chat on discord club(a chat platform) directly: https://discordapp.com/invite/fdKgESs
That's all, nice to meet all of you :)
你好， Terry! I have been learning Chinese for over 30 years now - since 1985 - but my Chinese is very rusty from lack of use, and I have noticed that some of my vocabulary (and maybe even some of my grammar) has become dated over time. I would be interested in conversing with you from time to time, to try to get back in practice and 'modernize' my Chinese!
I don't use Instagram, and I have a Twitter account, but I only very rarely use it. I do use Facebook and Messenger (originally called Facebook Messenger). Could we use the latter as a chat medium?
You are going to have a lot of new friends after this post. You'll be very busy! :)
Hi, Toni, sorry to reply a little late for I've gotten a bad fever today before 中秋节(tomorrow) . You're a language expert! And it amazed me that you have learned Chinese for over 30 years, which are even bigger than my ages. But it's okay, you must be a great learner, with good perseverance quality and more.
I'm interested in conversing with you too(just learned this kind of expression way from you :) ). As a fact that you already have lots of Chinese knowledge accumulation, it would be a easy for me to help you to use(write or speak) latest Chinese more natively.
I've just applied a facebook account, it's verifying now.
This is my twitter homepage: https://twitter.com/theterrysu Before the facebook account verified, maybe we could chat on twitter with its "message function" in real-time temporarily.
Sorry! I was not clear. To use Messenger, I don't think you actually need to use Facebook. I'm not 100% sure, though. Try looking for Messenger on Google Play Store, or try this link. Facebook is OK too, but it's full-on social media; you don't need it just to chat. :-)
Try that, and let me know if you can install it, and what your username is.
My Twitter handle is @toniskids, but again, I rarely use it. Sometimes not for months. The picture shows me walking on a beach. I think my Facebook username is the same; I'll have to check.

Really appreciate for the link provided. For some reason, now I can only use chrome browser on Mac rather than mobile phone to visit foreign websites. What a pity, we cannot upload pictures here or I would show the screenshot of Messager official website which says we've got to use a Facebook account to login in.
But these things don't matter. I've added the info about how to contact me in the most top post, actually email can be the basic tool, hope it helps.
Do you have any Chinese search engines, like BaiDu? If so, you would know what the famous Chinese poem sentence "与君初相识，犹如故人归" means: 跟一个人初次见面，就好像老朋友一样亲切。
It's a unbelievable that we can meet here rather than on reddit, on medium or at somewhere else :)
But how to start? I found no buttons here used to start a group chat, maybe the app has locked some features in some countries. But I do use discord, twitter and email, we could communicate via one of them, or could you recommend an easiest and most direct way? :)
Perfect English, cool! It may be a little difficult for me to give tips for Chinese beginners currently cuz it's totally a new thing to teach someone how to start Chinese, however, I will list some links here as the guides I selected from ZhiHu(quora of China) and quora, hope it can be helpful:
from ZhiHu(you need to use chrome to translate it into English, it's worthy): https://www.zhihu.com/question/19975034
You're welcome. Although I haven't enough experience to instruct someone to start Chinese, I can help solve every real use case of Chinese in your further learning.
Maybe we could have a chat, if you have any Chinese puzzles, just tell me, and I may inquire some advice for my new articles too. How to contact you?
I’d love to be able to chat with you. I wanted to learn Chinese so I could understand my parents but I failed twice in Chinese school. I find it super helpful being able to practice with you and help each other out. I will try to contact you on discord as soon as possible. :)
Hey, Terry. I am thinking of joining the discord chat at some point in order to work on my Chinese. However, I am not very confident in my fluency just yet, so in the meantime, I wanted to offer my input in regards to any English grammar questions you might have - or just general conversation. I know you've potentially found some other people to talk with already, and that's fine. I just thought I'd make an offer. If you're interested, I'll probably just email you, since I don't use a lot of social media.
Hi, Embara, your offer is very nice and fascinating to me, and I'm glad to help you practice and enhance your Chinese. Actually, the more practice you take, the more fluent you will be, as what I have acquired from learning English. General conversation is very helpful, but because of the time difference, email is absolutely a more appropriate way, just email me, let's chat there.
