It's probably just how this verb works. For example like in english we say "I wanna listen TO some music" but we don't say "I wanna watch TO a movie".

I keep getting ke and di wrong

dari = from
ke = to
di = in/at/on

'ke' & 'dari' imply movement.
'di' implies location (static, no movement).

Saya belum di rumah = I am not yet at home.
Saya baru berangkat dari kantor = I just left from the office.
Saya sedang berjalan ke rumah Tini = I am walking to Tini's house.
