My first level 25!
I found DL 81 days ago, and practicing every day has seen me get to level 25 :-) Sadly a week's holiday where I may get little or no reception on my phone means I am going to lose my 81 day streak and be set back to zero! I would be happy to spend 100 lingots to get a week's worth of streak freeze!
Que sera sera...
Congratulations! What's up next? New language? Reverse tree? New learning platform?
Just started Spanish (this is from scratch) but want to actually become 'fluent' in French if I can, so Spanish will fill up the corners for some time.
Here is my DL ignorance - what is a 'reverse tree'??
Switching your profile language to your target language and "studying" your native language. It gives some new vocabulary and more opportunities to translate sentences into your target language.
I think reverse tree is that one starts learning the already-learned lessons backward.
@Sandie141941, Great job, that's an amazing accomplishment! It took me at least a year to reach level 25-you killed that! I agree with you that there should be a longer streak freeze available, I wouldn't worry though, because you'll be able to get your streak back in no time-good luck, and enjoy your trip!
Bonjour à tous, je suis français et je suis content d'apprendre que beaucoup, plus que je ne le croyais apprennent le Français qui est pourtant la langue la plus compliquée du monde :) Bravo à vous !
Although I am not quite sure why it is showing my french level as 24 on this thread!
I always wanted to know how good could someone become by studying only on Duolingo. My highest level here is in English, but i had some classes on it some years ago, so i'm not quite sure if it is a good parameter. did you take some course on French? if you did not, how good are you on it?
In fairness I started French in January using Rosetta Stone - a good but expensive package - for me the one big drawback is that you don't get the chance to think about and construct sentences. That meant that my reading and vocab was at a reasonably good level by the time I started DL eight weeks ago - but I really rate DL for getting you to think of your sentence structure and grammar.
I have now found a French tutor so I can really start the conversational French, which is I think the next step. Going to book a trip to Paris in spring and try and get some real experience of trying to talk to people!
Félicitations, bonnes vacances
Merci, je vais le modifier tout de suite
99 days later I have my second level 25 - so English from French, French from English (I have completed the entire tree on that one!).
I am still trying to complete the tree entirely on French from English, but have decided now to try and learn French from German and German from French...
Onwards and upwards...
