Voggy = Volcanic fog

Oh ... and here I was thinking it was a typo for "foggy"!

What a great word...

Polalauahi is also a great word. In my understanding it comes from pola, to flap in the wind (as the tail of a kite), and lauahi, to destroy by fire or lava flow (by the goddess Pele)

Is it possible for Honolulu to be voggy? Doesnʻt one need an active volcano for vog to form?

Often times the vog from the volcano Kīlauea on the island of Hawaiʻi drifts up the island chain and affects Oʻahu, although she has recently subsided quite a bit after the activity this summer.

I used to live on Kaua'i, and we even had some voggy days there when Kilauea was acting up!

Mahalo! I'll have to use this in a sentence with my friend who lives there!

I have a question. Can you write this to emphasize today above all other days, "Today (of all days, I'm getting married outside, jeez not for a decade but today!?!), Honolulu is voggy!" ?
