If you have started to learn french from zero, what you have written shows that you have reached a quite good level. I hope I would reach the same in Japanese.

merci beaucoup! I'll go through the mistakes you've pointed out that I've made so I -hopefully- don't make them again in the future. I should point out that I didn't start from scratch when I started Duolingo. I'm doing GCSEs right now and I had some basic knowledge of French from classes in school, but Duolingo has really helped me to stand out and in fact the teacher considers me one of the two star pupils of the class :) the other one also having used Duolingo a lot :))

I'm also doing GCSEs and using French to improve my knowledge of French. Hopefully getting a 9 will be easier especially using Duolingo.

You could definitely give the learn English through French course a go! Congratulations! Also, have you done the new French course or the older one? I'm still on the older one.

Merci beaucoup! I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the new and old French course, I thought that we all got migrated over months ago to the level based one, so I'm not sure which one I am on.

I finished the French tree about two years ago. Here are some things that helped me since then. (For the record, I'm not fluent in French yet, but give it 10 months, and almost certainly!)

1: The reverse tree may not help. This is for many reasons, mainly that you're using a course designed to teach English, which will not help you learn French. There are much better things you can do in your time.

2: Use Memrise to improve your vocabulary. Memrise allows you to create your own vocabulary lists, so if ever you see an unfamiliar word, you can look it up, then copy it and the translation. Then learn it. Then review it every once and awhile.

3: Improve your listening skills with Frenchpod101. This website is SUPER useful. It is great for revision for stuff you have already learnt, as the videos explaining the grammar are not too long and not too short. They also have a moderately sized library of audioblogs with the transcript availiable.

4: Methods of improving your lexicon. Here are methods for improving your lexicon: Read French books, you can buy books online or buy a reading tablet and download them (prefered, as some have a setting where you can just tap words and it will give you the transaltion); watch French films/TV shows, if you have a subscription to a video streaming service, you can change the settings so that your shows are dubbed with French, it is reccomended that you mainly watch TV shows that you have already seen, so you know what words are likely to be used. You can also read Wikipedia articles with the language changed to French. Alterniatively, if you are a boring person, like me, you can copy vocabulary from vocab lists, and paste them into a Memrise course. You can find vocab lists on community created courses on Memrise, the earlier-mentioned Frenchpod101 as quite a lot, and goethe-verlang as quite a few aswell.

5: Carry a jotter with you at all times. If ever you have a question conscerning the French language or you wonder "What is that word in French?", you can write what you want to know down, and use an online dictionary, like Collins, to find out a translation of a word, or ask the question on the Duolingo forums, as some nice person will answer it very clearly; and if not, will provide a link to another website that will.

J’ADORE!!
