Interesting point is that being an Austronesian language, Hawaiian Au is a cognate with Filipino Ako, Malay Aku, Malagasy Aho, Tahitian Au, and Maori Ahau. Additionally the Formosan languages of Taiwan also use variants of the words (mostly ako/aku/ku/kaku).
