It should be 'cop' or just 'police.'

cop is an acceptable translation.

I'm confused 'o 'ia : stands for he she or it right ? So why is " he is a police officer " incorrect ?

That should be accepted. Please report it as your answer should be accepted.

Not sure why "she is a policeman" is wrong (does that infer it should be "police girl" or something?

I'm pretty sure that they accept "She is a policewoman."
