Does this mean that he does not buy a car at all, or that the car he buys is special, "not just any old car"?

Not just any old car, but a 400hp 6 speed with chrome finish! Here are some other ways you might see such phrasing used:

  • Non sono una famiglia qualsiasi (maybe talking about certain reality TV shows)
  • Prenditi uno qualsisi! (they're all good, just take one)
  • Sembra una donna qualsiasi (she seems like a normal woman, not a supermodel, which is why certain paintings are revolutionary)

Hope that helped :)

Is qualunque used in the same way as qualsiasi?

Why isn't "I do not buy a common car" accepted ??

'Comune' is the translation for common.

Do we need to report the hints as wrong then? They include 'common' and 'ordinary'.
