Learning Chinese from English

I am a native Chinese speaker and live in an English environment since 1995. If somebody need any help in learning Chinese, simplified characters, I may be of some help here. Why? I decided to learn French from English in later September 2018, and find this site. I benefit from this site as I come here daily since then. I want to give back to this community if I could. Thanks.

If you want to help most of the Chinese learner on here, you could go trough the Chinese from English tree and report solutions that are missing and unnatural sentences, so they can get fixed.

Good point. I may not have enough time to do it, as I am learning French myself and also full time work along with family duties to fulfill.

Nobody forces you to do it, I understand that you have your own life as well, but this is probably the most effective way to help apart from being a contributor what takes even more time.

FushanZ, please join our "Duolingo - Practice Chinese" discord server. We have 2 chinese native speakers there, but they are often offline. Any help from you would be greatly appriciated. If anyone else also wants to join our server, please do, you are welcomed there. https://discord.gg/s2fksGU

Great motivation you showed as well as finding the best way to help out, Fushan! If you want to help people out with English, you can suggest "English-from-Chinese" track to them, so they can do some practice.

I am learning "English-from-Chinese" to see through the contents included for the course. After speeding through and making more than 50% of all lesson sets golden, I realize that:

  • The grammar taught from "English-for-Chinese" is different from "Chinese-for-English".
  • More vocabularies and sentences with some complexity
  • Lots of exceptions, so that English sentences can have more than one translations.

Yet, some improvements to make are:

  • More alternatives needed
  • To improve the rigor of the course since some lessons do not clearly or correctly teach English

I do not understand other languages, so I can't explain the Chinese in other languages. But if you can understand English, I may be able to help you.

I'm learning Chinese, but sometimes the characters confuse me. How can I stop this from happening?

only practice can resolve it. I am learning French, facing the same dilemma as you are learning Chinese.
