According to a US court case, in the common tongue they are a vegetable, but scientifically they are a fruit.
Isnt it the other way around? Tomatoes are considered fruits not vegetables....
Depends upon the content ... we may consider (treat) tomatoes as a vegetable, but recognise them as a fruit. Personally, I lump tomatoes with salads rather than vegetables. Salad is not a recognised food group but rather a menu description.
Anything with a seed is a fruit.
Anything with a root is a vegetable.
