Paid â casau fi plîs - I do not like the TTS voice for Welsh.
I mean no offence to the lady who became the TTS robot - but after a year (or two?) of Welsh Duolingo I have to admit I am find that the voice is starting to grate—and the robotic nature of it doesn't help.
I wish Duolingo would let them upload a human recording, and perhaps with more than one voice for a bit of variation. The Esperanto tree proved that a human voice is much, much nicer.
Am I unreasonable or is anybody else less than a fan of Amy's voice?
It's not perfect, but it is what it is. Duolingo seems to be best for learning spelling and grammar. I'm supplementing this course to better develop my ability to speak and understand spoken Welsh with videos on youtube and Say Something in Welsh--and I'm always on the lookout for other great resources. I will use them all! :)
Indeed, it's not perfect and could easily be replaced with something that is - that's why it's so annoying! Give the Esperanto course a try for one lesson and you'll struggle to put up with Inova...
I think you're right. Duolingo covers grammar fairly well, but for actual useful conversational phrases and skills, SSIW, youtube, and even Memrise are better.
