My life's been messy lately, and I lost the motivation to do Duolingo. Thanks to Patrick for motivating me to start over.

So, I came up with an idea to motivate myself to do Duolingo and prepare myself for my A2 French exam: level up at least 3 skills in all my courses to level 5 every day, and to do 5 timed practice lessons in every single one of my already-gilded French skills. This will give me at least 2000 XP every day, so it'll be extremely difficult.

Wish me luck!

EDIT: I did some actual math, and counting when I am and am not motivated, I should fluctuate between 2000 and 4000 XP a day. If I am overmotivated cough cough November 3 I will probably get cough cough November 3 a very high XP count!

EDIT: To answer some questions: no, I am not only using Duolingo, no, this is not cramming (although it may seem like it) it’s more of an extreme study. Yes, this will be fun, yes, you can join me, and no, I am not taking A2 French exam until next year.

Good luck. Hopefully it will hold for your exams but generally speaking cramming has a short retention time. Lots of repetition over a longer time holds better in the long term memory. Also, don't forget the other aspects of your French study (I'm sure the exam won't just focus on what is offered in DL!)

This isn't really cramming, it's more of an "extreme practice". I mean, my A2 French exam is sometime next year ;)

That's a pretty hard challenge. For the past two weeks I've been leveling at least 1 skill to level 5 and at least 1 not timed/timed practice.

I wish you good luck, and hopefully this challenge will help you for your A2 French exam!

I went to your duome profile, and it says you got 2020 XP at once. How do you get that much in one go? Not any lessons I know of give that much.

From what I can see down here on my lowly place in the forum hierarchy, you learn 6 languages? Wow, that's really impressive! I used to learn 14 at a time, sometime last year, but I quit a bunch of them due to a lot of stress. You being able to handle 6 languages smoothly is an achievement, I respect you for that. huggles

Wow, that's amazing! Yesterday you didn't quite hit the 1,000 mark, but that's still better than my 500 XP a day I'm puttering on at.

I hope that all you do isn't just Duolingo. Duolingo is great, and if you're truly studying with it intensively everyday, then you'll probably learn quite a bit. But you can learn so much without feeling obligated to keep such a strict, demanding, and might I say almost mundane schedule. For me, I have learned SO MUCH away from Duolingo, watching Netflix and YouTube videos, listening to music in my target language, and just trying to talk to people and actually use the language. Duolingo is great, but if it's the ONLY thing you plan to use for this consistency challenge, I hope you reconsider. Consistently (like, everyday) doing some of the activities I mentioned above along with Duolingo will help you to progress so much more, and is also much more interesting due to the variety and greater personality of the tasks. I hope I don't sound like too much of a party pooper or something. Have with your French learning!

Of course I don’t just use Duolingo, if I only used Duolingo I wouldn’t advance at all xD

That's great! Sorry, it's just that there are some people who go on these giant duolingo sprees without doing anything else to practice or learn, and then they burn out without gaining much. But anyway, I hope this challenge will push you to be more consistent with your learning! Have fun!
