Hey there,

I personally feel that the Chinese lesson in Duolingo is pretty hard for beginners, especially as it feels like you're being thrown straight into the fire due to all the characters you come across at once.

That said, the course can be very helpful if you use it alongside other courses! Here's a few suggestions.

Other websites & Apps Tinycards - This is great for extending vocabulary, and there's some great 'packs' that goes alongside the Duolingo Chinese course

Hello Chinese - This is a very popular app that can help teach you a lot of Chinese. Its very easy to use and does not punish you for mistakes. Once you have completed up to Numbers, I recommend you start learning the Duolingo course along side it.

Chinese Skill - Another app you can use alongside Hello Chinese and Duolingo. It really helped me to understand Chinese grammar works.

Infinite Chinese - A colourful revision tool!

Also... There's a lot of great books out there for learning Chinese and there are also many how to videos to kickstart you too. If you would like any more recommendations just let us know :)
